Rooftops of Paris

Welcome to the inaugural post of Gallery Schmanz. You can learn more about my new photo blog by clicking on the About Gallery Schmanz link in the sidebar. Without further adieu, here is my first photograph.

Rooftops of Paris

Here you see the rooftops of Paris, looking out over the 6th arrondissement from an apartment across Boulevard de Montparnasse in the 15th. I enjoy the details that make this scene so Parisian: the terra cotta chimney pots, the multitude of shutters on the buildings, and the carved stone details of the facades. The contrast of light, shadow, and ominous clouds is beautiful despite the imperfect weather.

What a great first picture! I too have been trying to take a picture a day. For me, taking a picture was a way for me to document a special occasion. By taking a picture everyday, it helps me to slow down a little bit, and appreciate even the small things as special occasions. I need to incorporate my everyday pictures into a blog like you. What a great idea! Keep it coming!

I do the same – only taking pictures on “special occasions” and missing out on the details of everyday occasions. You put it really well.
