About Gallery Schmanz
Gallery Schmanz is a sister blog to Chez Schmanz (also at WordPress), which chronicles my adventures living in Paris for a year. My goal with Gallery Schmanz is to post at least one picture a day with a story or a caption. Each picture in Gallery Schmanz should evoke its own story or provide a window into my life in Paris. To keep the quality of the pictures high, I will limit myself to a maximum of three photos a day.
Often I take pictures in fits and spurts and post them all at once on my Picasa page. This is an overwhelming way to look at pictures, however. It also lacks a means of highlighting especially beautiful or evocative photographs. The motivation behind Gallery Schmanz came from two sources. One is Iain MacLennon and his “photo of the day.” The second is this photograph, the colors of which thrill me, and which is hidden among my New Year’s pictures.
I’m very open to comments or suggestions with this new project. I hope that it will encourage me to both take and share more pictures. And I hope you will enjoy them!

Wow… not only is she a good writer, she’s a talented photographer too!
These are great photos, Lauren. And we really like your blog.
I stumbled across it while searching for links about “Chateau Courtomer.”
Some of this is definitely frame-worthy.

This really is a beautiful picture. The colors are great–quietly jubilant. I think what I like best about them is that they add a vibrant counterpoint to the romance of the subject–that uniquely wonderful, multifaceted patina that a building takes on with age, when the host of imperfections and tell-tale signs of care come together to tell just a little of its own storied past.
It’s happy overlaid with happy! And definitely frame-worthy.

Wow, great photos. I found your blog just by clicking my way through the Internet.
I love the worn out colors in the photo above and the gray sky over Paris. Thanks for sharing.
