Wheel
This wheel was on some contraption with an unknown (to me) purpose. All I know is this: it was next to a field, it looked pretty old, and the faded paint was pretty.
We were hiking in Le Sappey, on the Chartreuse, outside of Grenoble.
Menagerie-go-round
I saw this merry-go-round at the Jardin des Plantes and appreciated the stylistic animals twirling around, particularly these giraffes.
I did feel a little creepy hanging around a merry-go-round with a camera though!
Rowboats at Bois de Boulogne
It was far, far too cold on Sunday to think about renting a rowboat in the Lac Inferieur at Bois de Boulogne, but I just had to snap a picture as I passed.

What have I “learned” from Gallery Schmanz? I like boats, buildings, and the sky. I prefer close-ups. And I also like cats, but I don’t force them on you.
Paris welcomes me back
Today was doorknob day. They kept catching my eye, I kept taking pictures, and my dad made some comment about “nice knobs” in Paris.
Since I’ve been slow to post lately (what with the traveling – you’re welcome for the pictures from Malta!), I’ll post three “nice knobs” today.
The first is from an entrance to Place des Vosges. The deep blue spices this photo up.

This is from a door on the far end of Place des Vosges. I love the darkness of the wood.

Number three is a fascinating twist of snakes on the entrance to Hotel de Sully.

Come to think of it, I probably shouldn’t have yelled, “Look, snakes!” when I saw it.
There’s something about an empty rowboat with chipping paint…
I can’t resist an empty rowboat, especially not one with muted paint contrasting with the azure of the Mediterranean. So, I ask you: how could I then resist two?

These two rowboats were tied together in the Maltese fishing village of Marsaxlokk.
Marsaxlokk, cover of every Malta guidebook
I kid you not – on every guidebook on Malta my parents and I own, the cover is the fishing boats at Marsaxlokk.

I guess they are just really photogenic.
Radio silence
I decided from the outset that I’d only post pictures taken that day, and now I’m experiencing a short dry spell with the photos. This is really because it has rained two of the last three days (and the lighting inside my apartment is horrible), and the other day in the middle there, I had a migraine. Wah, wah, blah, blah, suck it up and take some pictures in Paris! I know. I’ll get back to work right away, sir. Sorry to bother you, sir.
Table for two in the tropics
Such a gray day in Paris makes for the perfect time for me to experiment with color saturation. This table for two in the overcast city now looks almost tropical!
